What is Invisalign?
A new smile can make a huge difference!
Your self-confidence. Your attitude. Your life. Invisalign doctor makes achieving the smile you always dreamed of a reality. Best of all, it doesn’t have to be a big deal. In fact, it barely has to impact your day-to-day life at all.
Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth. You wear a new dental aligner every two weeks. These “invisible braces” aid in gradually moving your teeth into the ideal place – little by little, week by week, gradually moving towards the smile you have always dreamed of.
The invisible aligners are comfortable, clear, and removable – Invisalign changes your smile without disrupting your life. One of the major benefits of Invisalign is that there are no wires or brackets like regular dental braces. Conventional dental braces use brackets connected by wires to make your teeth to move and require many visits to the dentist, many adjustments, and many years of treatment.
Patients love Invisalign dental aligners not only because they can avoid the unsightly “metal mouth,” but also because unlike braces, invisible dental aligners can be removed, making it easier to brush and floss well. Best of all they are easy to put on and take off.
Over 3 million people worldwide have already discovered the benefits of Invisalign invisible dental aligners.
Can anyone get invisible teeth aligners?
Clear (or “invisible”) aligners aren’t for everyone. Clear orthodontic aligners are typically used for patients who have mild or moderately crowded teeth, or have minor spacing issues. Patients who have severe crowding or spacing problems — or severe underbites, overbites, or crossbites — may need more complex treatment. Your dentist will help you decide what’s best for you.
How do they work?
Once you and your Invisalign doctor decide that Invisalign dental aligners are right for you, they’ll make a plan for moving your teeth in order to correct your bite. The next step is to get digital impressions in our office. This is computerized and it only takes a few minutes with a small intra-oral camera. The result is an exact digital replica of your teeth. Your dentist will plan your perfect smile and once you approve the final results, they will order your custom aligners. The dental aligners are made from a clear plastic or acrylic material and fit snugly over your teeth, but can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. You’ll get a new aligner every few weeks to continue moving the teeth into the desired position.
How long does it take to straighten teeth using invisible aligners?
It varies for each person. Treatment time with invisible teeth aligners is based on how much the teeth need to be moved or rotated. The more your bite is off or the more crooked your teeth, the longer it will take. Treatment usually takes between 6–18 months. But if you’re an adult who had braces as a child, and your teeth shifted slightly over the years, you may need invisible teeth aligners for as little as 10 weeks.
Why use invisible aligners instead of braces?
Avoiding “metal mouth” isn’t the only reason to choose a clear aligner. Unlike braces, aligners can be removed, making it easier to brush and floss well; that helps maintain better overall oral health. They are comfortable and you will require fewer visits to our office for adjustments. Invisalign treatment usually takes much less time than conventional dental braces.
What about direct-to-consumer clear aligners?
There are companies that will send you dental aligner trays through the mail and allow you to manage your treatment plan online. The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) warns that (while online orthodontic companies make their treatment sound easy) without in-person evaluations and/or in-person supervision of your orthodontic treatment by an experienced dental professional, your results may not be as reliable. They could even damage your teeth. After all, orthodontic treatment involves major movement of biological material in your mouth. So if done incorrectly, you could experience expensive and potentially irreversible oral/dental damage to your teeth, gums, bite, and more.
Before you decide to proceed with a direct-to-consumer orthodontic treatment company, think about what you are willing to sacrifice for saving a little time and money with a direct-to-consumer product? Is it better to do things the easy way or the right way? Your smile is worth doing things right. Invisalign doctor is here for you.
